Grant’s zebra
Equus quagga boehmi
The plains zebra inhabits the savannas and grasslands of eastern and southern Africa, where it lives in family groups led by a stallion and in large herds that may gather during seasonal movements. Living in groups allows zebras to detect predators more easily and defend themselves through cooperation. Today, the conversion of grasslands into farmland, habitat fragmentation and fences that block migration routes are among the main threats facing many wild populations.

Fun Fact
BLACK WITH WHITE STRIPES OR WHITE WITH BLACK STRIPES?
A brain teaser that kept scientists busy for a long time.
It has been shown that, initially, the coat was dark and that genetic variation led to the appearance of individuals with light patches, which over time evolved into the characteristic black-and-white stripes.
