Common Ostrich
Struthio camelus
The ostrich lays the largest eggs of any living bird, weighing more than 1.5 kg. Several females lay their eggs in the same nest, but only the dominant pair incubates them: the female during the day, when her sandy plumage provides camouflage, and the male at night, when his dark plumage makes him almost invisible.

DON’T SAY I HIDE MY HEAD IN THE SAND
It is the largest and heaviest living bird.
It cannot fly, but thanks to its long legs, it can reach speeds of up to 70 km/h (43 mph) to escape predators.
Before running away, it hides by lying flat on the ground with its neck stretched out.
This behavior may have given rise to the legend that the ostrich hides its head in the sand.
