Eurasian Eagle-owl
Bubo bubo
The Eurasian eagle-owl is one of the largest owls in the world. Thanks to the specialised structure of its wing feathers, it flies almost silently, allowing it to approach its prey undetected. With exceptionally keen eyesight and hearing, it hunts mainly at night, feeding on small mammals, birds and other vertebrates, and plays an important role in maintaining the balance of natural ecosystems.
IUCN RED LIST
The IUCN (International Union for Conservation of Nature) classifies living species according to criteria that take into account their level of threat of extinction: the Red List is an indispensable tool for coordinating nature conservation actions, a veritable barometer of the health of our Planet.
