Pig
Sus scrofa
The Pig lives in complex social groups, where individuals communicate through a wide range of vocalizations and physical contact. Curious and intelligent, it spends much of the day rooting in the ground with its strong snout in search of roots, fruits, seeds and small invertebrates. This natural behaviour turns over the soil, helping to break down organic matter and disperse seeds.
Domestication began in Europe. Today, it is bred all over the world.
Fun Fact
Contrary to popular belief, pigs are very clean animals. When given enough space, they choose to keep the area where they sleep separate from the areas where they eat and where they relieve themselves.
